Greg Dulli: La primera vez que lo hablamos fue después de que tocásemos con Usher en Austin el año pasado. Fue algún tiempo después de que la gira de reunión habiese terminado, y no habíamos pensado en tocar juntos de nuevo; pero pocos después nos llegó el gusanillo y dijimos «¿Por qué no», Todo era tan bueno, todo iba tan bien, nos dijimos, «Tal vez sí queremos continuar con esto.»

After such a long gap, how did a new Afghan Whigs album come into being?
Greg Dulli: The first time we discussed it was after we played with Usher in Austin last year. It was some time after the reunion tour had ended, and we hadn’t thought about playing together again; then we were approached with such a cool idea, so we figured, «Why not?» It went so well, we were like, «Maybe we do want to continue this.»
John Curley: That was the moment that crystallized moving forward — it opened our eyes to what a unique thing we’d put together. Greg and I had dinner that night: we talked about how much we liked the band that we had, and decided to make a record with that incarnation.

Nadie debería estar del todo sorprendido al saber que el infinitamente prolífico Billy Corgan acaba de anunciar un concierto de ocho horas, pero el contenido de ese concierto puede cogeros con la guardia baja . Como señala Spin en un post de Facebook hoy, el líder de Smashing Pumpkins ha anunciado que va a estar realizando una interpretación instrumental y ambiental de la novela existencial de Hermann Hesse Siddhartha en su tienda de té de Chicago, Madame ZuZu’s Teahouse . Corgan espera que el espectáculo dure entre ocho y nueve horas:

No one should be all that surprised that the endlessly prolific Billy Corgan just announced an eight-hour concert, but the content of that performance might catch you off guard. As Spin points out, in a Facebook post today, the Smashing Pumpkins leader announced he’ll be performing an ambient, instrumental interpretation of Hermann Hesse’s existential novel Siddhartha at his Chicago tea shop, Madame ZuZu’s Teahouse. Corgan expects the free performance to last between eight and nine hours. Read the full post below:

Performance will be centered around an ambient/musical interpretation of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha; built by modular synthesis, on the fly.
