Courtney Love Reforms Classic Hole Line-Up

Courtney Love ha hecho saber a The Quietus que ha estado trabajando con Melissa Auf Der Maur, Eric Erlandson y Patty Schemel en nuevo material de Hole. La formación grabó su último disco en 1998, “Celebrity Skin”.

Empecé a tocar con Patty y Melissa y Eric, para ver como era. La semana pasada tocamos tres o cuatro veces.

La vocalista espera publicar en mayo, para promocionar una gira en solitario por el Reino Unido, el tema nuevo “Wedding Day”. Aquí las fechas de la gira de Courtney Love en solitario:

Courtney Love has told The Quietus that she, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Eric Erlandson and Patty Schemel have put aside their differences and are currently rehearsing her new material. The four musicians last recorded together on 1998’s Celebrity Skin, and disbanded in 2002.

«I started playing with Patty and Melissa and Eric, just to see how that was,» Love told The Quietus. «We already played like three or four times in the last week.» Love is planning to release a new single, ‘Wedding Day’, in support of her upcoming May tour of the UK.

Petra Davis talked to the musician at length last night (Tuesday) in London for a full length feature coming soon on the Quietus. Courtney Love Tour Dates:

El batería de Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins, ha explicado a la WRIF (vía Alternative Nation), como avanza la creación del nuevo disco de la banda.

«Aún no hemos terminado. Aún estamos como a mitad de un proyecto y no puedo hablar de lo que es. No sé qué habéis oído y tal. Trato de que siga siendo algo relajado. Lo único que puedo deciros es que, y esto es la verdad por Dios santo, que ahora como banda, más que nunca, podemos meternos en un estudio y grabar una canción como queramos, tan rápido como queramos, dando lo mejor de nosotros y eso es un avance… Como banda estamos tocando mejor que nunca. Eso lo sé. Lo noto. Lo oigo y eso es lo más importante y es maravilloso».

Though its members have also been working on some individual projects, Foo Fighters continue to make progress on their eighth album, the follow-up to 2011’s «Wasting Light.»

There’s been all sorts of speculation about what the quintet is up to, including recording at several legendary studios, but drummer Taylor Hawkins tells us that for now the Foos are keeping things close to the vest:

«We’re not done yet. We’re still kind of in the middle of a project, and I can’t really discuss what it is. I don’t know what you heard or whatever, and I just want to be safe. Whatever you’ve heard, OK. I’m trying to keep it kind of mellow. The only thing I can tell, you, and this is the God’s honest truth, is that we as a band more so than ever can walk into a studio and record a song anyway we want, as quick as we want, to the best of our ability, and that’s a development…As a band we’re playing better than we’ve ever played. I just know it. I can feel it. I can hear it, and that’s the most important thing and it’s awesome.»

Butch Vig se pasó ayer por los estudios de la KROQ (vía Alternative Nation) para hablar de los planes futuros de Garbage y el trabajo que está haciendo con el nuevo disco de Foo Fighters.

Espero terminar el (trabajo) de Foos para finales de junio y probablemente volver al estudio y terminar el álbum de Garbage para Acción de Gracias. El año próximo será un gran año para Garbage. Es nuestro vigésimo aniversario así que habrá una gran gira y un nuevo álbum y algunas otras cosas especiales en las que estamos trabajando para, de algún modo, celebrar nuestro aniversario.

En cuanto a su trabajo en el nuevo disco de Foo Fighters que, como sabemos, parece ser se ha ido grabando en distintos estudios del mundo, no da demasiadas pistas.

Lo hemos encarado de manera bastante diferente. Nunca he hecho un disco así. No sé si nadie ha hecho antes algo así. Le hemos metido el factor x ahí – forzándonos a ser espontáneos y estar al máximo nivel. Así que ha sido un reto divertido.

Butch Vig discussed upcoming Foo Fighters and Garbage albums in an interview on KROQ yesterday.

Garbage has currently been working on their sixth studio album for about six months and they have dramatic plans for next year, the band’s 20th anniversary together. Vig says that they have about twenty song ideas “in the can.”

“I’m hoping to finish the Foos [Foo Fighters] by the end of June and probably go back into the studio and finish the Garbage album by Thanksgiving, ” said Vig. “Next year is going to be a big year for Garbage. It’s our 20th anniversary. So, there’ll be a big tour and a new album and some other special things that we’re working on to sort of celebrate our anniversary.”

He’s being even more vague about his work with the Foo Fighters, but says they’ve recorded for a while “if you include pre-production.”

“We’ve taken an approach that is quite different.I’ve never made a record like this. I don’t know anyone who has,” hints Vig mysteriously. “We sort of through a x-factor into the process that is forcing all of us to be spontaneous as well as really have to be on your a-game. So it’s been a challenge and fun.” He makes sure to clarify that the songs, while containing some unknown equation that we will all eventually find out, are “great” and “sound epic.

Mientras Foo Fighters siguen trabajando en su nuevo disco, Taylor Hawkins tiene listo el debut de un nuevo proyecto: The Birds Of Satan.

El batería se acompaña de sus compañeros de Chevy Metal, su proyecto de covers de bandas como Black Sabbath o Van Galen, pero para hacer un disco de temas originales de rock progresivo. Se publicará el 15 de abril vía Shanabelle Records.

El álbum ha sido grabado en menos de una semana y cuenta con la ayuda de Dave Grohl y Pat Smear, el percusionista Drew Hester y el teclista Rami Jaffee.

Mudhoney On Top:  KEXP Presents Mudhoney Live on Top of the Space Needle LP: En el año 2013 , tanto Mudhoney como Sub Pop cumplieron 25 años , y , en la celebración de este hito, la banda se presentó en el techo del icónico y también muy alto Space Needle de Seattle . On the record label’s website, Sub Pop announced their releases, stating: “we went to work, trimmed the fat, and got our release list to the four most exciting, collectable, sonically pleasing, limited-edition Sub Pop Record Store Day Releases ever.”

On Record Store Day, Sub Pop will unveil releases from Mudhoney, Pissed Jeans, Chad VanGaalen, and The Notwist:

Mudhoney On Top:  KEXP Presents Mudhoney Live on Top of the Space Needle LP: In 2013 both Mudhoney and Sub Pop turned 25, and, in celebration of this milestone, the band performed on the actual roof of Seattle’s iconic and also very tall Space Needle. Due to space limitations up on top, and the obvious safety issues involved, only about 13 people were able to bear witness to this performance (and you can hear each of them, clapping individually between songs). Our friends at KEXP recorded and broadcast this monumentally historic event, and this limited-edition vinyl LP preserves it for eternity. Limited to 2,700 copies worldwide.
