Tanto los Foo Fighters como Gaslight Anthem han prestado su música a un nuevo documental sobre el huracán Sandy. La película, titulada Beach 119, es del director Marcie Allen, quien dijo que se inspiró para hacerlo después de escuchar historias de supervivientes en las redes sociales.
«Vi las desesperadas súplicas hacia los medios sociales desde teléfonos durante las horas después de la tormenta. La gente fue separada de cualquier tipo de ayuda. No había gas, el transporte, la electricidad, los alimentos y, en algunos casos, la ropa y las necesidades médicas eran imperiosas»
Y agregó: «Este documental dará a estos supervivientes una voz para contar su historia a través de Beach 119. Es la historia de la humanidad y la unión de ésta en un momento de necesidad…»
«Home» de los Foo aparecerá junto con «National Anthem» de los Gaslight Anthem . Otros artistas que contribuyen son los Cary Brothers y el guitarrista de Staind Mike Mushok.

Both the Foo Fighters and Gaslight Anthem have lent their music to a new documentary about Hurricane Sandy. The film, titled Beach 119, is from director Marcie Allen, who said she was inspired to make it after hearing survivor stories on social media sites.
«I spotted desperate pleas on social media from dying cell phones in the hours after the storm made landfall. People were cut off from help. No gas, transportation, electricity, food and, in some cases, clothes and imperative medical needs,» she wrote in a statement.
She added: «This documentary is to give these survivors a voice to tell their story. Beach 119 is a story of humanity. Strangers came together in a time of need.»
The Foo’s track «Home» will appear along with Gaslight’s «National Anthem.» Other contributing artists include the Cary Brothers and Staind guitarist Mike Mushok.

¿Cómo hicisteis «Lab Monkey«?
Jerry Cantrell: Muchas de las canciones se iniciaron con riffs que ya teníamos. Quizás gracias a él y a mí en un vestidor o durante una prueba de sonido. Puede ser mensajes de voz grabados en un teléfono. Baldy nos estará siguiendo con su cámara, y sería como, «Hey Baldy, graba esto!» Llegas a casa y tienes treinta o cuarenta putos repuntes de dos minutos, un riff, o lo que sea. Luego, simplemene trabajas con ello. Cada canción siempre comienza con un título broma. Una se llamaba «Manmouth» porque estábamos comprobando el sonido en Monmouth. Comenzamos a llamarlo «Manmouth» por supuesto [Risas]. Esa canción es genial, ya que va en un montón de lugares diferentes. Es, básicamente, cuatro o cinco cosas que podrían ser canciones individuales pero que se juntan para hacer una. Tiene ese algo espeluznante de Black Sabbath.
Sean Kinney: Tiene un ritmo muy bailable.
Jerry Cantrell: Así es. Podrás ver un montón de strippers de mierda bailando con ella [risas].
Sean Kinney: Así son las canciones divertidas en los discos.

In many ways, this feels like you’re deepest work…
Jerry Cantrell: Nothing that does well just happens. There’s a lot of fucking work and thought behind that. There’s a lot of investment, time, and tearing your hair out. You can apply our experience here to anything worth doing.
How did «Lab Monkey» form?
Jerry Cantrell: A lot of the songs started with collected riffs. It would be me and him in a dressing room or during a sound check. It can be voice messages recorded on a phone. Baldy will be following us around with a camera, and we’ll be like, «Hey Baldy, record this!» You’ll get home and have thirty or forty fucking two-minute blips, a riff, or whatever. Then, you wade through that. Every song always starts with a joke title. That one was called «Manmouth» because we were sound-checking at Monmouth. We started to call it «Manmouth» of course [Laughs]. That song is cool because it goes in a lot of different places. It’s basically got four or five things that could be songs on their own put together to make one. It’s got that creepy Black Sabbath thing in the Geezer Butler-type intro.
Sean Kinney: It has a really danceable beat.
Jerry Cantrell: It does. You’ll see a lot of fucking strippers dancing to it [Laughs].
Sean Kinney: Those are the fun big album tracks.
