Todo lo que he aprendido sobre el Rock, lo aprendi gracias a L7. Dando igual que fueran riffs de bajo o polvos de talco sobre mi pelo muerto o capas de ropa de hombre hasta que estuviera lo suficientemente cálida para dormir en la furgoneta sin mantas- todo era L7. Mi batería y yo frecuéntemente nos emborrachábamos y veíamos vídeos de L7 (y de Girl School, pero eso es de otro artículo) mientras movíamos nuestras cabezas repitiendo, «nunca jamás habrá una banda tan «guay» como L7″. La banda de Los Ángeles era hilarante, rebelde e ingeniosa y tocaban música dura pero pegadiza. Eran como si todas las chicas de Frightwig se hubieran follado a Danzing y hubieran tenido cuatro hijas y esas cuatro hijas hubieran formado la mejor banda que se ha formado nunca.
En este vídeo, «Andres» (que fue dirigido por Kim Gordon de Sonic Youth), Donita, Jennifer, Dee y Suzie se disculpan con un misterioso hombre en North Hollywood con quien han tenido algunos «problemas», todo esto mientras nos enseñan cómo ser mujeres en Los Ángeles y a vivir y a salir con verdadero estilo.

Everything rock I learned, I learned from L7. Whether it was bass riffs or baby powder in my dead head hair or layering mens clothing until I was warm enough to sleep in the van without blankets—it was all L7. My drummer and I often get drunk and watch L7 videos (and Girl School, but that’s another article) and shake our heads repeating, “There will never, ever be another band as cool as L7.” The LA band were hilarious and bad ass and witty and they played catchy, hard music. They were like if all the girls in Fright Wig fucked Danzig and had four daughters and those four daughters formed the best band ever.
In this video, “Andres” (which was directed by Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon), Donita, Jennifer, Dee and Suzie apologize to a mystery man down in North Hollywood who they had some “problems” with, all the while teaching us how to be women in Los Angeles and live and hang with true style.
